Newfoundland

from Leaving Wisconsin (demos) by Steev baker

/

lyrics

The thing i remember the best
is the crush of your lips
and your face...
it comes in a distant second
and you couldn't miss
that I felt like this.
But how you tried.

It was a filthy night in July
when you slipped your willing hands in mine
but I let them slide right by
I don't even know why...

You said it was pronounced
"Newfoundland"
and calmly explained how the waves
are broken in the sand.
You said that you were, too.
i was an island to you
and you were some desolate sea
and though you were so strong
the tide pulled you away from me.
